Got an old forklift which i found at an old warehouse. when I first got it running, it was totally smoke free. It had a couple of hoses disconnected from the carburetor.
i have reconnected those two hoses to the carburetor and now it's blowing white smoke out the exhaust like crazy! definitely smells like fuel!

Could this be a faulty carburetor? thanks for your help!

White smoke that smelling like fuel often means its getting too much fuel and not enough air.
Have you checked that you connected the hoses to the correct ports on the carburetor, and not perhaps to a vacuum advance or emissions system?
That might be getting fuel or causing vacuum leak in the wrong place..
If they're properly connected, then I'd say the carb could be over-fueling due to a stuck float, a bad needle valve or even just being out of adjustment..

I think it might be flooding after you reconnected those hoses, which would cause the white smoke and fuel smell. Double check the hose routing and inspect the carb for stuck floats or leaks, Fixing that should clear up the smoke.

Definitely sounds like it's running rich now. Maybe try pulling those hoses back off one at a time and see if the smoke stops.
