Nameplate info needed for a generator

I have this project in mind, trying to see if I can power the field windings of a little 3 phase synchronous generator using solar panels. Got most of it figured out, but I'm stuck needing some real world nameplate info for my calculations. I only get to see big generators, but mine is smaller around 200 to 300KVA, max maybe 750KVA.

anyone knows a nameplate from a generator in that size range they could share? thanks!

Oh this is such a good idea! About the field voltage for your 200-750 kVA range, it should be around 32 to 125v DC. For the FC it can be anywhere between 2A to 10A. :) Nameplates are available on Cummins in that range.
 
That sounds like an awesome project. I don't have a nameplate handy at the moment, but typically in that range, you're looking at around 400–480V, 50/60Hz, and a power factor of about 0.8. For the excitation, it's usually somewhere around 125V DC and 3–8A

By the way, are you connecting the panels directly to the field, or are you using a controller for that? I'm curious to hear more about your setup
 
For a 200-300 kva 3phase generator, you'll usually see voltage around 400-480v, current in the 360-540A range, and a power factor near 0.8.
Excitation voltage and current specs are key for your field windings. Check out brands like Cummins or Stamford online, they usually have nameplates and specs for that size.

you know, instead of just nameplates, try looking for owner's manuals or spec sheets for smaller commercial gensets (like those used for backup power in small industrial or larger residential applications). They often list field winding voltage/current or excitation system requirements in the technical data
